Perhaps the free publication's readership is dwindling further than ever before and they feel it necessary to do whatever it takes to attract attention but Phoenix New Times recent headline in advance of President Trump's scheduled Tuesday rally could be their most blatant example of subversive, anti-American propaganda yet.
The article's headline reads, "Antifa, Bikers for Trump, and Other Groups Planning to Protest Trump's Phoenix Rally," yet the copy contained within the piece written by Joseph Flaherty that references a pro-Trump group called "Arizona Cobras," who's Facebook event post contrary to the headline actually reads as follows:
Bikers 4 Trump
The "Arizona Cobras" chapter of bikers who support Trump say they will be at the venue to "protect event-goers."
From the event page: "There have been plans for Charlottesville sympathizers to protest. We need our bikers to show up and keep people safe...If there are people outside waiting to get in I don't want anyone to harrass [sic] them. Protesters have a right to protest, but they don't have a right to threaten or intimidate. That is why we need to be there."
That same groups "About" section on social media states:
"BFT AZ is a coalition of freedom loving, American bikers that believe in everyone's right to free speech and to peaceably assemble, guaranteed by the First Amendment. We support President Trump and the rule of law."
The same Phoenix New Times article which blatantly lies in their headline about Bikers for Trump protesting against our President does in fact spotlight numerous known hate groups that plan to protest, and even escalate their assembly to violence during the event as they have done in the past. See the complete list, including their plans here.
Chris Cox, founder of Bikers for Trump who's Facebook page has more than 265,000 followers posted the following video on the group's social media page which more accurately describes their intentions during the Phoenix rally:
Bikers for Trump's mission reads as follows:
To promote and coordinate peaceful Bikers for Trump™ rallies and events nationwide and to inform voters on issues confronting America.
Before he travels to Phoenix for the rally, Trump is scheduled to visit Marine Air Station Yuma, a Marine Corps base along the U.S.-Mexico border earlier Tuesday. It is possible he could tour the U.S.-Mexico border, which is about 10 miles from Yuma.
From Yuma he'll travel to Phoenix, where he's scheduled to take the stage at the Phoenix Convention Center at 7 p.m. As is typical, the White House and police have not shared details on when Trump is expected to land or his route from the airport to the convention center.
